Clay Lamp Festival (Karthigai Deepam)

Karthikai Deepam (Tamil: கார்த்திகை தீபம்) or Karthikai Vilakkidu (Tamil: கார்த்திகை விளக்கீடு) is a Tamil Festival of Lights. We also can say Clay Lamp Festival. The festival is observed in most Tamil homes and every Tamil temple of Tamil Nadu, Sri Lankaand Kerala. It falls in the month of Kārttikai(mid-November to mid-December) as per Tamil calendar. This occurs on the day when the moon is in conjunction with the constellation Karthigai (Pleiades) and pournami(full moon). This constellation appears as a group of six stars in the firmament in the shape of a pendant from the ear. In Kerala, this festival is known as Thrikkarthika. In the rest of India, a related festival called Kartik Purnima is celebrated in a different date.

So,Indians in Malaysia also will celebrate this festival every year.On that day, usually people have rituals for God and will pray. So,this year the festival was on 2nd December till 4th December. This festival is three days celebration. Those three days we should lights up the clay lamp around the house at night.

The above pictures are my celebration of this year.

The Bermuda Triangle

The Bermuda triangle, also known as the devil's triangle, is a loosely defined region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Most reputable sources dismiss the idea that there is any mystery. The vicinity of the Bermuda Triangle is one of the most heavily traveled shipping lanes in the world, with ships frequently crossing through it for ports in America, Europe and the Caribbean Islands.  By,Hishalini.

Flowers by Pearlyn

They have no mouth, but seem to speak A thousand words so mild and meek. They have no eyes , but seem to see And bury thoughts into me. They have no ears, but seem to hear All my cries, my every tear. They have no arms, but seem to pat When with worries my heart is fat. They have no feet, but seem to walk Along with me in my dreams and talk. They, I know, are the flowers so nice That spread their fragrance a million miles. Grow a few and then you'll know  How your life is fresh and new. With a smile so broad, I thank my God, Whose work to imagine is really too hard. By, Dharshini.
